All Aboard!!! Orlando is whistling with energy and excitement with the imminent arrival of the National NMRA convention on all clear tracks. The 2017 NMRA Orlando National Convention Host Committee has been working very hard to provide an excellent program for the Convention with activities being held in the Rozen Plaza Hotel which is very close to the Orange County Convention Center of the National Train Show. The Celebration staff is busy preparing for the event, and the staff hopes you have prepared something to place in the Celebration Room whether to enter competition or just to show off your latest creation. We look forward to our little part of a very extensive gathering of Railroad fans of all ages, scales, gauges, and other ways that Railroad fans enjoy the hobby.
We anticipate lots of activity in the Celebration Room with sights for everyone to view during the week. As in the recent past, the purpose of this room is not just to compete for an award, far from it. The concept is to display your works of art, models, crafts, photographs or anything that is related to railroading that you are proud of and want to share. We hope the displays will provoke thought and garner appreciation for the effort put forth and generate discussion between visitors and the creators. To view someone’s creation and possibly push you to try it or improve on your own creation is a central theme to the entire convention and the NMRA. Seeing and talking with other modelers, photographers and crafts people about their creations will give you ideas to take home and try out yourself. You should make the effort to come to the Celebration Room Monday and look over all of the displays then come back Tuesday afternoon to talk with the creators (modelers, photographers, and crafters).
And while the Model Contest is typically considered a prime event, excellent Photo and Arts & Crafts Contests and a Rail Pass Contest are also included. For descriptive information and required forms, go to http://nmra.org/contests.
